Health and Environment

Five Senses (Pre - K)
In this animated class, young children explore the wonders of their five senses. Developing vocabulary is an added bonus to the fun these children will have using their five senses to identify mystery objects. Five senses is a great class to introduce students to what their own body can do. We use our eyes, ears, tongue, hands and nose to discover in this energetic class.

Musical Trash (Pre - 1st)
It's never too early to learn the three R's: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! In this exciting class, children learn that they play an important role in taking care of the earth. We explore where "trash" comes from and how long it takes for "trash" to decompose. Children discover that one man's trash is another man's treasure, as we use common "trash" items to make musical instruments! Get ready to make some noise for the environment!

Fit with 5 a Day (Pre - 2nd)
Healthy eating is a learned habit - so let's learn it the fun way! Everyone wants to grow up strong and healthy. This class explores just how to do that. Children learn that fruits and vegetables are not only good for them, but yummy, too! Taste tests are only the beginning; we also squeeze our own orange juice and make our own smoothies. This class teaches that healthy eating can be fun and delicious! Remember, an apple a day keeps the doctor away.

Lung Lab (4th & up)
Everyone knows we need to breathe, but how do our lungs work? During our lung lab, children will explore the lung by learning its anatomy firsthand. In this hands-on class, children will touch and see pig lungs as we inflate them to model a working lung. Students will also get a chance to make a lung model of their own! (Each child must bring an empty two-liter bottle from home for this.) As we discover how important our lungs are, we emphasize the negative effects of smoking by simulation. This class is a breath of fresh air!
