Home Depot The Kings Canyon store has been helping us throughout the year by providing discounts on our paint and supplies. With the able help of Home Depot’s Store Manager and his associates, the classroom building and museum were painted and various landscaping projects were completed on November 3, 2016. With another work date already booked, we are overwhelmed with the support provided by the Kings Canyon Home Depot and its employees.
Junior League of Fresno has been a huge part of The Discovery Center’s history. They have partnered with us again to create an edible garden designed to educate children about food and farming. Before the garden was actually built, Junior League members and their families spent many hours and several mornings cleaning up the park and office area to help in garden preparation. Junior League is a wonderful and selfless group and we couldn’t be happier to have them as our partners. Website: HERE!
PG&E has helped us throughout the years with donations, exhibits, and help in many forms. Most recently they have teamed with the Boys and Girls Club to provide some of their kids with the internship opportunities. We are happy to say that they have chosen The Discovery Center as a place for these interns to work. We are so happy to have them here.

IPMS ( International Plastic Modelers Society ) of Fresno has provided models of ants and space ships to The Discovery Center. IPMS members have also spent their time helping children assemble models at our site. This organization has also been kind enough to loan TDC some of their tables for our classes. Dom Ortiz is not only the president of IPMS, but a staunch volunteer who has spent countless hours helping The Discovery Center provide activities and learning for children. We're excited to do more with them in the future! Check out their website: HERE!
Thanks to the generous folks at Karsyn Constrution Inc. for their monthly donations that help our Park and Museum with some of our beautification projects.

Dom Ortiz - Volunteer Coordinator
Dominic has been volunteering at The Discovery Center for several years. He has helped us with countless operations that keep TDC operating efficiently. Dom has expertise as an electrician and has worked hard on lighting, yard maintenance and many other projects in all parts of the park, museum and in the Johnston building. He also works with the Fresno Scale Modelers. He is a skilled modeler who constructed and donated a Saturn 5 model to the museum. Another significant contribution Dom has made to TDC is to coordinate our individual volunteers and the teams that have helped us on many projects. Dom is on-site almost as much as some of our staff and does amazingly hard work for us. A recent recipient of the "Spirit of Philanthropy" award at AFP's National Philanthropy Day 2016; we cannot Thank you enough Dominic!
Todd has been helpful to the Discovery Center for many years. Whenever we have a special question about a reptile or would like someone to show some snakes at an event we know to call him. He is the go-to reptile guy in the valley. Todd also has his own business and does as many reptile rescues as he can. Many people have been educated in proper reptile care by Todd. Thank you for your support and expertise! Check out Todd’s website: HERE!
Susan worked at the Castle Science and Technology Center in Atwater and, when they closed, she helped us acquire many of their exhibits. Some of these exhibits were originally from The Fresno Metropolitan Museum of Art and Science and Susan went to great lengths to get them back to their hometown and eventually with us at The Discovery Center. With Susan's help, our exhibits multiplied. Not only did Susan help us with new exhibits from Atwater but she put together the entire space section in the museum. We thank her for all her hard work!
Deborah is a volunteer who has been helpful to us in many ways, especially when we were putting our museum together. She put a lot of time and love into our Native American display. She helped catalog, research, label and display many of the exhibit pieces. We thank her very much!
Neal Bourzac Sr.
Neal Bourzac has helped The Discovery Center with maintenance and repair. He not only donated his time to The Discovery Center, but he also donated equipment so that we can continue serving children. The maintenance of Walden Pond is one of Neal’s special projects. He has taught the employees and volunteers of The Discovery Center to have a better understanding of the pond and how it works.
Marco has been extremely helpful in maintaining The Discovery Center Park and especially Walden Pond. He has donated his knowledge and has given his time to help repair and beautify our pond so the animals living there are happy and healthy. We're fortunate to have him here.
Jack worked at The Discovery Center helping to maintain and beautify the park. He went to great lengths to ensure our Native Cactus Garden, tortoise enclosure, the lawn in front of the museum and general grounds looked ready for visitors. He also spent countless hours researching different plants and trees and making signage for them. Jack also cleaned the barn and organized our supplies and exhibits, a gigantic feat in itself. Thanks Jack!
