GROUPS & BUSINESSES
Junior League of Fresno has been a huge part of The Discovery Center's history and formation. They originally helped with The Discovery Center museum (at the time named "The Fresno Jr. Museum of Science and Natural History" ). They are now in the process of partnering with The Discovery Center again to create an edible educational garden. They have also come out several times to the park and office area to clean and help pick up where the garden will later be. They are a wonderful and selfless group and we couldn't be happier to have them as our partners. If you would like to visit their website and see other projects they are working on, more info on the garden, their mission statement or other info click the link here: https://www.jlfresno.org/
PG&E has helped us throughout the years with donations, exhibits, and help in many forms. Most Recently they have teamed with the Boys and Girls Club to provide some of their kids with the internship opportunities. We are happy to say that they have chosen The Discovery Center as a place for these interns to work. We are so happy to have them here.

IPMS ( International Plastic Modelers Society ) of Fresno has gone out of their way to help provide some models of ants, and space ships to The Discovery Center and several simple models which children have the joy of assembling all because of them. They have also been kind enough to lend us some of their tables while they are not using them for our classes and facility rentals through their wonderful president Dom Ortiz. We're excited to do more with them in the future! Here is their local website for Fresno: http://fresno.ipms.us/
their nation wide website is here: http://www.ipmsusa.org/
Dominic has been volunteering at The Discovery Center for several years now. He has helped us with countless projects including helping with our science museum, Johnston building, yard maintenance. electrical work, lighting and many other essential works. He also works with the Fresno Scale Modelers who help The Discovery Center as well. He is a skilled modeler and even constructed a beautiful Saturn 5 model for us. He is also coordinates our volunteers at The Discovery Center, a big task in itself. He is here almost as much as some of our staff is and does amazingly hard work for us. We appreciate him so much! Thank you Dominic!
Todd The Snake Man
.Todd has been so helpful to the Discovery Center for so many years. Whenever we have a special question about a reptile or would like someone to show some snakes at an event we know to call him. He is the go-to reptile guy in the valley. Todd also has his own business and does as many reptile rescues as he can. Many people have been educated in proper reptile care and have luckily taken several reptiles home after their experience with Todd. Here is his website
Susan Weikel Morrison
Susan has been a great help to us. She worked at the The Castle Science and Technology Center in Atwater and when they sadly were closing, she helped us receive many of the exhibits the center had. Many of these exhibits were originally from The Fresno Metropolitan Museum of Art and Science and Susan went to great effort trying to get them back in their hometown and with us at The Discovery Center. With Susan's help our exhibits easily doubled if not tripled. Not only did Susan help us with new exhibits from Atwater but she put together our whole space section. We thank her for all her hard work, we appreciate it so much!
Deborah has been so helpful to us at the Discovery Center, especially when we were putting our museum together. She put a lot of time and love into our Native American display in the museum. She cataloged and researched all the wonderful pieces that we have and prepared them for display. She also has purchased and donated several essential pieces for our museum. Along with this she traveled with us to Atwater to pick up several different museum pieces that formally belonged to the Met that closed down in Fresno. We thank her very much! She is such a big help!
Neal Bourzac Sr.
Neal Bourzac has come on several different occasions to help The Discovery Center with maintenance and repair. He has not only donated a good portion of his time but also pieces of equipment, like a pump (along with several other things). One project that he has helped us with is maintenance of our pond; Walden Pond. Thanks to his help he has guided the employees and volunteers of The Discovery Center to have a better understanding of the pond and how it works.
Marco has been extremely helpful in maintain The Discovery Center Park and especially our Walden Pond. He has donated his knowledge and has given his time to help repair and beautify our pond so the animals living there are happy and healthy. We're so fortunate to have him here helping us.
Jack worked at The Discovery Center for a few years helping maintain the park and making it look beautiful. He went to great lengths to ensure our Native Cactus Garden, tortoise enclosure, the lawn in front of the museum and general grounds to look as amazing as they do. He also spent countless hours researching different plants and trees we have in the park and making signage for them. He also cleaned our barn and organized and our supplies and exhibits, a gigantic feat in itself. Thanks Jack!
