Playgroup Class Topics:
Dinosaurs: Teeth, Spines, Claws, Oh My!
In this exciting class we'll learn ways that dinosaurs defended themselves from their predators. We'll add teeth, claws, and spines to a defenseless paper dino then create our own stories of survival. The drama really comes to life when, using our paper creations, we cast dino-size shadows on the wall! Class concludes with an excursion to the Dino-Dig site where we'll use shovels to unearth the bones of these prehistoric giants!
Ladybugs in the Garden
Using lots of creative play, we'll learn all about these favorite spotted friends and how they help care for our environment. We'll make paper models of the ladybug, then put on ladybug wings to act out a dramatic escape from a bird! Class concludes with a yummy "aphid" snack.

Jump, Frog, Jump!
Watch out Frog! There's a snake! And a turtle! And a fish! Based on the popular children's story Jump, Frog, Jump!, this lively class presents pond life from the perspective of the frog. Using puppets and other props children are involved in an energetic simulation of a frog's drama of survival. Afterward, we'll explore our own Walden Pond, catching creatures with nets for closer observation in the water table.
Butterfly in the Meadow
Butterflies in a meadow filled with flowers are a beautiful sight on a sunny day. We'll bring the freshness of this scene indoors by way of a mural of paper flowers. Then we'll create and cleverly hide our paper butterflies among the flowers as we learn about the concepts of concealment and camouflage.
