"How Your Kids Can Experience The Nation's Deserts..."

Come and see over 250 rare and exotic cacti at the Deutsch Cactus Garden!...

Are you trying to find an exciting way to teach your kids about deserts? Do your kids know about the desert ecosystem and the amazing plants and animals that can survive there? This lesson can be tough to teach with only pictures of the desert landscape and its creatures. There is so much life to learn about and explore in the desert, you could spend an entire lesson just teaching your kids about cacti.

What if you could set the scene for them to truly explore the desert? Imagine if your kids could see over 250 different cacti from around the country - all in one day? Yes, it's possible at the Discovery Center! The Deutsch Cactus Garden is an amazing spectacle of desert lifethat has been a lifetime in the making. Here, you'll find an amazing sight - a 35-foot Saguaro cactus with flowers that bloom at night! You'll even find barrel cactus, fish hook cactus, and even the hard-to-grow creeping devil cactus!

The garden was donated to the Discovery Center in 1995 by the Deutsch family - but was actually started in the 1930s! The Cactus Walk at the Discovery Center will teach your kids about survival techniques used by plants and animals living in the desert, while showing them what truly makes up a desert.
