The Discovery Center is OPEN Six Days a Week: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays

Greetings, neighbors and natural science lovers. With all the talk of parks closing and hours of operation being reduced in city parks, we at the Discovery Center just want to yell out - WE ARE OPEN FOR YOU! The park is open to visit at no charge. Just come on in and enjoy the grounds. Come in, sit at a picnic table under a tree and enjoy your picnic or fast-food lunch. Friends, you are welcome here.

This month look for activities involving our "Nature Kids" program, designed for 3-5 year olds, and Saturday Science for older children. "Nature Kids" is a program originally helped by First 5 as a part of an infrastructure grant. The program is now self-supporting and is a big hit with young people and parents alike. Come out on Saturday for Saturday Science! Activities this month involve learning about the sun, making bubbles, creating sand art, and more. And don't forget about Star Parties on Friday nights at 8 p.m. Just $2.00 per person covers the cost for this special program.

The Discovery Center does not receive any governmental support and we are not directly affected by their funding issues. The Center is fully supported by your participation in our programs, enthusiastic donors, and foundations such as the Wells Fargo Foundation and the Berry Foundation. We also receive support through fees for Center camps and especially our on-site/off-site science presentations as public schools.
