International Year of Astronomy (IYA)

"During the year 2009, the world will celebrate the International Year of Astronomy as it commemorates the 400th anniversary of Galileo's use of a telescope to study the skies, and Kepler's publication of Astronomia Nova."

Greetings
Your Discovery Center encourages the study of astronomy by hosting Star Parties each Friday evening during the month of May. Please come out and enjoy a cool evening walk around the park and get a view of a wonderful star-filled sky.

Did you know that Reedy park is maintained for our community by The Discovery Center? Its maintenance and management is funded through your direct donations and by participating in our science programs. Visitors to the park are encouraged to make a contribution, but it is not required to enjoy the park's many features. When you visit also be sure to enjoy the desert tortoises.

Please join us by sharing this newsletter with your friends and encouraging them to come out with you. If you add your name to our mailing list via our website, we always confirm the addition before adding your email. We do this out of respect for your information. If you have questions about supporting or attending one of our programs, please ask for Janet Berry, Volunteer Executive Director, or email me directly. We'll get the answers you need.

Blessing,
