The Discovery Center is a Park and We Are Open
We have all been reading about the short-term challenges our County is facing regarding keeping our local parks open. Well, we are OPEN. The Discovery Center is easy to find (it's near the airport on Winery) and we are open six days a week from 9 AM to 5 PM and 10 AM to 4 PM on Saturdays. Entrance to the park is free.
The park is maintained for our community by The Discovery Center and is funded through your direct donations and by participating in our science programs. For instance, our February Saturday Science program, Build It Up, is all about building structures (see the notice in the newsletter). Visitors to the park will be invited to make a contribution, but it is not required to enjoy the program.
The park is a great place to take a time-out for strolling with your family. We are also wheel-chair accessible. We have many interactive outdoor exhibits: Cactus (yes, you can interact, just touch), Gemini space capsule (yes Dad, you can sit in it!), the Whisper Cones (you'll be amazed how far your whisper will carry). We've also have trees you can touch, grass you can picnic on or just run around in circles, amaze yourselves in the Mystery Maze, and see the fish in Walden Pond. Take a walk to see the beautiful gardens at the far end of the park at the Garden of the Sun, too.
I hope I have made myself clear that YOU and your family are invited to The Discovery Center to enjoy the park and enjoy your family in a stress-free outing right here in town.
Please join with us by sharing this newsletter with your friends and encouraging them to visit. If you have questions about supporting or attending one of our programs, please ask for Janet Berry, Volunteer Executive Director, or email me directly. We will get the answers you need.
See you soon,
