Presidents Letter

Welcome to The Discovery Center's first email newsletter! We will be sending out our "ezine" every month to keep you up-to-date on all of our exciting new changes and events. We also hope that you will find the fun games and activities in each month's issue to be valuable learning tools for your children.

This month, we have focused on bringing you some fun activities for children of all ages. We've provided fun puzzles for older children and hands-on activities for our younger TDC kids. For younger kids (3-6 years old), please check out Nature Kids on our website for onsite playgroups and preschool classes.

Summer is my favorite time of year at The Discovery Center. My son Bobby went to camp every summer, and I can tell you from experience that your children will have more fun learning than you can imagine. We have a brand new Wilderness Adventure camp, as well as some of our tried-and-true favorites to make sure your kids have a fun, education-filled summer. Camps are filling up fast, so call the office at 559-251-5533 and reserve your space today!

Speaking of camp, I am delighted to announce that The Discovery Center Board of Trustees has raised over $10,000 from generous individuals and businesses in the community for fully paid camp scholarships . These scholarships will go to children in our local area that otherwise would not be able to attend camp. If you or someone you know could benefit from a camp scholarship, please call the Discovery Center office for a scholarship application.

Our corporate sponsor DPS Telecom is matching all scholarships, so your donations will provide wonderful summer memories for two deserving campers. If you would like to give two children a week of camp for the price of just one camp, call the office soon to make a donation. Your generosity will provide a week of learning and wonderful lifelong memories for two deserving children.

My first year as president has kept me busy breathing new life and energy into this wonderful organization. I hope you enjoy the new website, which we have redesigned to give you the latest information regarding membership specials and new events.

If you have been a member in the past and have not renewed your membership, this would be a great time to come back and learn about our awesome new membership benefits. If you are new to the Fresno area or haven't been involved with The Discovery Center before, we would love to see you get involved.
