Wednesday this September...

Do you want get your toddlers ready for Kindergarten? Get them the headstart they need at Nature Kids classes at The Discovery Center! This month is all about learning the five senses. Your little ones will learn to recognize their senses, as they discover how different animals use them to survive in nature.

Nature Kids toddler classes are from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. every Wednesday this month at The Discovery Center. Bring your 3 to 5-year olds for this special promotion: Your first Nature Kids class free, then just $20/month for TDC members, and $32/month for non-members.

  • September 2, 2009 - "Hearing"
    We'll explore our sense of hearing and how our sense compares to the hearing in animals. We'll learn about different types of ears and how they work, then make some fun musical instruments!

  • September 9, 2009 - "Touching"
    Can you figure out what something is just by touching it? We'll play a game to find out! We'll take a closer look at our skin, hair, and hands, learn the difference between soft, hard, smooth, and rough, and make some art projects that show what we've learned!

  • September 16, 2009 - "Smelling"
    Learn about noses and our sense of smell this week! We'll try and figure out what things are by smell alone and learn about what animals have the best - and worst - senses of smell in the animal kingdom!

  • September 23, 2009 - "Tasting"
    Get ready for a tasty treat this week at Nature Kids! We'll make some different foods as we learn about taste buds in animals and people, as well as how foods that we eat are broken down in a fun and exciting way!

  • September 30, 2009 - "Seeing"
    We'll learn about eyes and sight this week - in us and in different animals! We'll also learn about animals that have adapted to living where there is no light to see. We'll use colored goggles and more to look at the world in new ways!
