"Marine Madness"

Come explore marine life
with us this Saturday...

Are your curious kids fascinated by ocean life? Do they enjoy visiting the aquarium? We've got the perfect place for them to play, explore, and learn all about marine life! Saturday Science classes are $5/family and start at 12pm, 1pm, and 2pm at The Discovery Center. Here's what your little scientists have to look forward to during our "Marine Madness" theme this August:

  • August 1, 2009 - "Ocean Habitat"
Learn about the food web - what eats what - especially plants and invertebrates (animals without a backbone). We'll also look at the many ocean habitats, from deep ocean trenches to tide pools!
  • August 8, 2009 - "All About Fish"
Come to this class to get an overview of the many different types of fish that live in the ocean. We'll learn about how some fish can live deep in the ocean, how fish can live in salt water, bony fish vs. fish made of cartilage, and more!
  • August 15, 2009 - "Sharks, Skates, and Rays"
This week we'll look into a special group of fish, the sharks and their relatives! Join us for shark info, games, and be one of the first to try our new make-your-own shark exhibit!
  • August 22, 2009 - "Ocean Mammals"
How can air-breathing mammals like whales and dolphins live underwater? Learn all about these animals - how they breathe, where they live, how blubber works, and more!
  • August 29, 2009 - "Sea Birds"
We'll look at the many different ocean birds, like penguins, pelicans, seagulls, and how they live in this Saturday Science class! Learn about nests, swimmers and fliers, surviving in the Arctic...these animals truly are winged wonders!
