Each year, The Discovery Center provides fun summer learning for children through their Summer Science Camps. Valley parents trust these camps to deliver a hands-on educational experience that will give their children with a lasting love for learning. However, many parents cannot this wonderful experience.
Fortunately, The Discovery Center has the support of individuals and businesses in the community who have been providing scholarships for these children. Without their support, the center would not be able to offer many of their fun, educational programs.
One of these generous individuals is Jon Bettencourt, who has been sponsoring camp scholarships for the past two summers. Bettencourt, an associate of DiBuduo & DeFendis Insurance Brokers, LLC, is happy to support The Discovery Center's learning programs. "When I realized what kind of cause this is for kids, I was more than happy to donate," Bettencourt said.

This year, Bettencourt sponsored two children's weeks at camp. In addition to supporting campers himself, Bettencourt has also encouraged his organization to get involved with The Discovery Center. "Individuals like Jon help us in so many ways," said The Discovery Center President, Janet Berry. "By supporting our camps and encouraging others to do the same, he has truly contributed to the happiness and success of many children."

Combining donations from other individuals and businesses with the dollar for dollar scholarship donation matching by corporate sponsor DPS Telecom, The Discovery Center was able to fund a week at camp for X# deserving children. "We are just so grateful for the support we have received this year," said Berry.
The children who have already attended some of this year's camps are also thankful for the fun experiences they've had. "I liked coming to camp," said a young explorer at Wilderness Adventure Camp. "I really liked drawing the rings of the trees for each year old we are, and making other things too."
The Discovery Center summer camps are filled with fun activities to fill the summer days. "I think the camps are a great way to get kids busy learning and doing things," said Bettencourt. "It's just a fun surrounding for them to learn and meet news kids while enjoying the learning process in a new kind of environment."
It is not too late to register for remaining summer science camps taking place in late July and August. To learn about more about this year's camp themes, or download the online camp application, click here.
