School's almost in, and that means the beginning of Saturdays in the Park at the Discovery Center! Bring the whole family out every Saturday this fall for hands-on learning and fun at The Discovery Center.
New Theme Each Month! Each month will bring a new theme for the Saturdays in the Park activities. We'll be drawing material from some of our most popular classes, as well as presenting fun new lessons for children of all ages. These entertaining educational activities are designed to complement the curriculum being taught in your student's elementary classroom, helping them get ahead on their science studies this fall.
"We are very excited about these upcoming events," said Janet Berry, Executive Director of The Discovery Center. "We want to make coming to The Discovery Center on Saturday something special. Years ago we had Saturday Science, but it was a more formal venue. Now, no pre-registration is required; the more kids the better!
This September, we'll be kicking off Saturdays in the Park with one of our most popular topics, Weird Science. Our instructors will be on hand to lead park visitors in activities right from our Weird Science classes, including different experiments creating gasses and making flubber! This class remains a favorite among our guest, and is certain to develop an enthusiasm for science in your child this fall.
Use The Discovery Center's Favorite Learning Tools!Saturdays in the Park will also feature other Discovery Center favorites, such as our six-foot dinosaur that children can construct themselves. They'll also have access to finishing nets for exploring Walden Pond, and other fun activities.
Saturdays in the Park will be taking place during all of the fall and spring months, weather permitting. Upcoming monthly themes tentatively include structures, native studies, the human body, animal mania, ecology studies, and bubbles and colors.
Join Us Every Saturday Starting this September! The Discovery Center is open every Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm. Instructors will be on hand for the special Saturdays in the Park activities from noon to 3 pm. Entry to the park will be free for families, with a suggested donation of $3 per child for those that participate in Saturday Science.
