Explore Archaeology at The Discovery Center’s Dino Dig Site!

If your little explorers have ever wondered how archaeologists uncover the giant dinosaur bones
they’ve seen in museums and science books, bring them to The Discovery Center! We’ve got our own “Dino Dig Site” where your kids can come explore and dig for dinosaur bones.

Come join us for a "Dino Dig" at The Discovery Center!

The Dino Dig Site was built to provide for hands-on learning fun during Dino-Mania science classes and camps at The Discovery Center. Located near the main barn, the Dino Dig Site is a large, sandy area filled with buckets and shovels for your little explorers to conduct their own excavation.

If you’re wondering how your child could possibly find any dinosaur bones on our grounds,
don’t worry. Hidden throughout the Dino Dig Site are various bone specimens. While they may not be from dinosaurs, your child will still be thrilled to have uncovered something on their search.

Like all of the other exhibits and programs at The Discovery Center, the Dino Dig Site is made possible by support from individuals in the community. Presently, The Discovery Center is seeking
dry, cleaned bones for the site. If you have any bone samples you would like to dispose of,
The Discovery Center needs your help!

"Our bone supply is really getting low",said Discovery Center Executive Director Janet Berry. "We would love to have a full skeleton so the children can see what a rib bone
versus a leg bone really looks like. We are looking for clean bones we can then bleach and
sterilize before they go into the dino dig. Please give me a call if you can help, I have been
working on this for several months and didn't know how tuff bones are to come by!"

With the opportunity to make such fun discoveries, the Dino Dig Site makes an excellent location for a dinosaur themed birthday party. To provide your child with a birthday they’ll never forget, invite their friends to The Discovery Center where they will enjoy a fun dinosaur lesson from one of
our educators before heading out on their own archaeological expedition.

If your child doesn’t have a birthday coming up, they are free to explore the Dino Dig Site on their
own during a self-guided tour, or one of our fun Saturdays in the Park Dino-Mite events taking place every Saturday from 12 to 3 pm this November. The Dino Dig Site is also available for
field trips incorporating a Dino-Mite class at our site. Teachers who book a field trip this October willvreceive a 10% discount on Dino-Mite classes for 60 or more students.

Visit our website for more information on Dino-Mite birthday parties., or call The Discovery Center at 559-251-5533 to book a Dino-Mite field trip this month!
