Now at The Discovery Center, you can get double your learning pleasure with our new hour-long classes. We’ve revamped some of our favorites to offer your children and students a full hour of hands-on learning for field trips, and more! Starting now you can register your class for a full hour session of Weird Science, Earthquakes and Volcanoes, Structures, Yokut Indian Studies, Magnets and Electricity, and even fulfill your Character Counts citizenship pillar during an hour-long Animal Mania class.
In the extended Animal Mania course, students will be given animal cards to match up to posters featuring different animal groups. Through this activity, they will learn about the different groups on animals, and what distinguishes them from one another. Then they’ll enjoy some hands on learning while creating their own model of the food chain!
Clovis Unified teachers can also further their Character Counts studies while learning about good citizenship towards animals and the environment. The class will teach children about how protecting the environment helps to prevent animals from becoming extinct. They’ll learn about sad stories, as well as successes where good citizens have been able to reintroduce animals into the wild.
The new Magnets and Electricity course will feature favorites from the shorter class, as well as some fun new activities for students. Your children will learn about the biggest magnet around, the Earth, and how the Earth’s North and South poles are just like the ends of a magnet they can touch and see for themselves. In addition to learning about the repelling and attraction properties of magnets, students will get to make their own magnetic art while learning about different fields of force using magnets and magnetized objects.
The course will also give children a lesson in circuits while they experiment with batteries right in the class. This will teach your students about positive and negative charges, and provide them with some electrifying excitement in the classroom.
The Weird Science, Earthquakes and Volcanoes, Structures, and Yokut Indian studies classes will all feature favorite activities from the shorter versions of the class. Additionally, they will provide new hands-on activities to provide your children will a more in-depth understanding of the topic. This will maximize their time at our site, doubling your lesson without another expensive bus trip out to a fieldtrip destination.
One-hour classes are now available for booking. The classes will be offered at a fee of seven dollars per student. However, if you book before December 31st, you will receive the special price of only five dollars per child. At this price, spaces will be filling quickly, so call us at 559-251-5533 and book your fieldtrip today!
