SC Johnson has been an avid supporter of The Discovery Center for over a decade. Through their generous works, The Discovery Center grounds and exhibits have seen many improvements over the years.

Bryan Corcoran is one of The Discovery Center's main contacts at SC Johnson. He has been involved with connecting The Discovery Center with SC Johnson to form a valuable partnership for education in the Valley.

"The Discovery Center is a unique educational resource in our area,"Corcoran said. With so many different learning opportunities for local children, SC Johnson is happy to support the center through grants and volunteer assistance.

Some of the early projects undertaken by SC Johnson included the renovation of Walden Pond, and the construction of the Johnson building on The Discovery Center's grounds. The Ziploc bag manufacturing division of SC Johnson has provided not only financial resources, but volunteer assistance for these endeavors. However, the completion of these projects was not the end of the relationship between SC Johnson and The Discovery Center.

The Ziploc manufacturing division also provided The Discovery Center with much needed financial resources to purchase a new Star Lab dome in 1998. The $25,000 grant from SC Johnson was enough to purchase a new, state-of-the-art Star Lab dome, as well as additional educational resources for the program. This year, the Ziploc manufacturing division made another generous donation to provide for updated state of the art equipment to ensure that Star Lab curricula was aligned with Valley science teaching standards.

"SC Johnson is the example of a company that has made a huge commitment to improving the community," said Janet Berry, Executive Director of The Discovery Center. "The Discovery Center is only one of many organizations in the Valley that SC Johnson has supported over the years. Technology has advanced a lot since 1998 when The Discovery Center first received Star Lab. This new donation will allow us to update our equipment and provide a much better educational and entertaining program. We are really excited and plan to have the first show up and ready to Blast Off by the end of October." SC Johnson is proud to support The Discovery Center's Star Lab and other educational programs. "The environmental focus, the outdoor learning space and the engaging hands-on activities provided by the staff make support from SC Johnson and the Ziploc brand an easy decision for us," Corcoron said.
