Thank You to Our Featured Donor: DPS Telecom President Eric Storm!

DPS Telecom is a network alarm monitoring solutions provider located in Fresno, California, just around the corner from The Discovery Center. DPS has supported the center’s programs for many years, and is presently one of the featured corporate members of The Discovery Center’s programs.

In order to further the education mission of The Discovery Center, DPS got involved with directly supporting the Summer Science Camp program. This past summer, DPS challenged individuals and other businesses in the community to sponsor a child to attend a week of summer science camp, and agreed to match every scholarship donation with an additional week at camp funded by DPS.

Summer Science Camp scholarships allow Valley children to attend a week of fun, hands-on science classes at The Discovery Center to keep them excited about learning all summer. This year, camp themes included Wilderness Adventure, Weird Science, Sky Bound, and Dinomania. Scholarship recipients were able to come to the center for a week of the camp of their choice.

Students from Fresno Unified were able to attend the camp due to the scholarship matching program and California state educational grants. Children were thankful for the opportunity to learn about creatures of the wild while spending their week in Wilderness Adventure camp. “I really liked making the tree ring pictures,” said one camper when discussing her week of hands-on learning at The Discovery Center.

DPS President Eric Storm was happy to be able to provide students such as the Fresno Unified group the opportunity to have fun and study science. "DPS has been a major sponsor of camp for the last two years",said Discovery Center Executive Director Janet Berry."They have allowed over 120 children to go to camp! We are so thankful for their continual efforts to lend a hand to their neighboring organizations".
